Payment (ACK) status messages

ACH supports the following ACK status messages:

Pending
Completed
Rejected
Returned

The following table explains these response types in more detail.

ACH Chile response types
Response message	Scenario
`Pending`	This message is sent after the transaction is received by J.P. Morgan and is being processed by J.P. Morgan’s Back Office systems.
`Completed`	This message is sent when the payment is processed without errors. The completed callback message is sent through API Gateway.
`Rejected`	This message is sent when errors are found and the payment is rejected. The rejected callback message is sent through the API Gateway. For example, an error was caused by a letter character found in the account number.
`Returned` (Only in T+1)*	This notification is triggered when a payment is returned by the beneficiary bank and a credit transaction is processed. For more information about return reasons, see Return reasons.

*Local Clearing Operates under negative consent logic. Only returned transactions are notified on T+1.

Purpose codes

Select markets require a purpose code for successful transactions. A purpose code is issued by a market’s Clearing House and identifies the purpose of payment for which the transaction is being made. Markets that do not appear on this page do not require purpose codes. The following tables list supported purpose code values for local ACH Payments in Chile.

Payroll (individual)

The RUT of the receiver must be lower than 50,000,000 for the following purpose codes.

Validate your Tax ID

J.P. Morgan automatically validates your Tax ID. However, you can also use the steps outlined in the following section to use the MOD11 check digit algorithm to validate your Chilean Tax ID (RUT).

Tip

RUTs have a numeric length between 7 and 8 digits plus a single verification character or digit. This verification digit is either numeric (0 to 9) or the letter ‘k’.

Step 1: Multiply the RUT digits

Using RUT 96,813,530-9 as an example, use the following logic and calculation table to multiply the RUT digits.

With the exception of the verification digit (9), multiply each of the numeric values from right to left by the corresponding number in the following sequence: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Restart the sequence with 2 when 7 is reached.

Step 2: Calculate the result

Sum the previous results:

0 + 9 + 20 + 15 + 6 + 56 + 12 + 27 = 145

Step 3: Divide the result

Divide the result (145) by 11 and only keep the integer part of the division. Multiply the result by 11 and deduct it from the original result:

145 - INT(145 / 11) * 11 = 2

Step 4: Subtract the result

Deduct the previous result from 11:

11 – 2 = 9

The result from Step 4 is the correct verification digit associated with the RUT example. After validating your TAX ID, you must provide the RUT and the verification digit. The transaction will fail if you do not include the verification code.
