FX Rate Sheet

The FX Rate Sheet API allows you to retrieve an FX rate sheet tied to an account in real-time.

Overview

The FX Rate Sheet API provides a method for clients to receive foreign exchange rates across the broad set of currencies supported by J.P. Morgan. The rates provided are tied to a specific account and may be valid for up to 24 hours.

Key features and benefits

  • Global reach: View rates for 120+ currencies spanning across 160+ countries.
  • Customizable: Configure a rate sheet across various parameters, such as timing, frequency, currencies provided, base currency, and validity window, based on your requirements.
  • Execution of foreign exchange transactions: Prior to implementation, determine whether foreign exchange transactions can be executed against the rates provided during the rate sheet validity window. Transaction instructions for executable rate sheets must be for the account tied to the API call, and fall below the transaction threshold. Non-executable (Indicative) rate sheets are also available upon request.
  • Increase operational efficiency: Gain visibility into your potential foreign exchange rates directly in your User Interface prior to execution, reducing the amount of time it takes to determine foreign exchange costs and send in transaction instructions.

How it works

FX Rate Sheet API life cycle:

  1. You work with a Treasury Sales Manager to determine the appropriate rate sheet timing, frequency, currencies, and validity window to facilitate cross-currency requirements.
  2. The Treasury Sales Manager coordinates with the Implementations Contact and TSFX Product to implement a rate sheet with the requested configurations. Tests are performed to confirm expectations are met.
  3. Once live, J.P. Morgan sets rates and generates a rate sheet in accordance with preset timing and frequency.
  4. Send a rate sheet request via API for the specified account, and J.P. Morgan returns the rate sheet details.
  5. For executable rate sheets:
    • Send in transaction instructions for the account specific to the rate sheet.
    • J.P. Morgan validates the transaction and applies the fixed rate to the FX transaction when applicable.
    • J.P. Morgan sends out payments to the beneficiary banks.
