Test operation

The Test operation verifies the end-to-end connectivity between your point-of-sale (POS) system, the payment terminal, and the payment host—without initiating any financial transaction or impacting cardholder accounts.

This operation is typically used:

  • At the start of the business day to confirm that the payment flow is fully operational before processing live transactions.
  • After a network interruption or break in connectivity, to ensure the payment terminal can successfully communicate with the payment host before resuming normal operations.

By running a Test operation, you can proactively identify and resolve connectivity issues, reducing the risk of failed transactions and improving the overall reliability of the payment experience.

Note

As part of validating connectivity with the payment host, the Test operation uses a test card ending in 5454. This test generates an expected response and a corresponding entry in the settlement report. These results are part of the normal Test operation and do not represent a live financial transaction. No action is required.
